400 Episodes of Stuff Weekly!
Guys, it’s insane to really think about it, but after 8+ years, we have made it to 400 episodes of our first podcast. That means, if you’ve been with us since the beginning, you’ve shared a minimum of 18 full days of your existence hearing us sit down, talk about our lives, and speak of the weird crap that happens in the world (but mostly Florida).
To celebrate, Matt developed a news based quiz show and surprised the rest of us with it. I strongly suggest you give it a listen. It’s a nice change of pace while still keeping with the spirit of the show. You can find it by clicking here.
Nine years ago, I decided to re-open my old quiz-based website with Nikki and wanted to include Podcasts as just one part of that revival. Over a few months we developed the ideas for what would become Stuff Weekly! and This Week in the Apocalypse. Shortly after that, we pitched the idea to Matt on a subway in New York City, and then it was time to get to work.
On April 16, 2010 we published our very first episode of our very first podcast named “Stuff and Things! Ep.1 – Stop! Poop Thief!” Then we found out there was another podcast with a similar name and changed over to the moniker we’ve stuck with ever since. I still have never changed that terrible episode title, however.
On November 27, 2018 we made it to episode 400. In the time in-between these two episodes, the site, the show, and our lives have changed quite a bit. We started and stopped playing characters on SW! that tried to alienate everyone in the world and have started just being ourselves. We gained a fourth host in Amber (her name is Amber, not that she’s a lady encased in tree blood a-la Jurassic Park). We started and canceled three other podcasts. We started and didn’t cancel three others. The quizzes stopped being produced and the review and badges sections have been removed entirely. We have each had several jobs, dated different people, traveled together, and at least one of us has gotten married.
So no matter what happens in the future, we have record of roughly 440 hours of our lives and the weird happenings of the world. That’s not even counting the other shows. Will we pick up another 400 episodes worth? God, I have no idea. That’s a lot of episodes, but it’s possible! Either way, we hope you’ll be with us for the rest of the ride.
